Revelations: about the future or the past?

If John was using Hebrew gem atria for the name Neron,would have Nero or one of his piers under his rule been able to decipher this?The bible has been interpreted in many ways so who knows.I think it is talking of the future for basic reasons such as the second coming of Christ(not happened),the rapture(not happened) all the seals been broken(not happened,well at least not all) and many more unfifilled prophecys in the book of revelations.So to me it does not make sense that God would give John a vision of the future that was actually happening at the time he wrote revelations.As in the days of Noah,so it shall be near the end times.Which tells us the world will be ripe with sin. And if we ain't there yet we sure are close.
